In my search for Vintage Easter images for my Easter baskets I came accross this wonderful site:

 http://vintageholidaycrafts.com/free-clip-art-sourcebook.pdf.

It is a one stop shop for all things printable!!! I am not exaggerating.  I think I can refer to this site for all my image needs! And it is free! That is the best part! You know me the frugal crafter.

I had to share with you for your future projects!  Enjoy!

Some tiny vintage Easter stuff February 26, 2009

My friend found these tiny lunch sacks at Target.  They are located in the gift bag section and cost $1.99 for 16 bags.  She and I used them for Valentines day. I am now going to vintage them out for Easter.  These really aren’t done, they will have a  ribbon and Happy Easter tag when they are completed. But I just couldn’t wait for that to post them.

And then there are these cool peet pot Easter baskets.  Got the idea from Emilie at Bunch of Scrap in one of her posts last year.  I then saw them done up for Easter at another site and had to try them TODAY.  The pots cost $1.99 for 24!! at Lowes.  The vintage Easter image is a free printable. I painted the pots on the outside and then down a little way on the inside. I then put the image on with Mod Podge. Then I put modge podge around the rim and rolled in glitter.  These aren’t completely done yet either. When done they will have a handle and a ribbon and hanging tag.

Another twist on a borrowed idea February 24, 2009

I think  I borrow most of my ideas from others who are far more clever than I.  I borrowed this idea from Jen at Lipstick and Laundry.  I  remembered my grandmother used to make quilts out of these little circles. I took the idea and made it into a little brooche for Mary.  Mary is the sweetest lady. She always has a pin on to match her outfits. I thought she might like this one for spring or Easter.

I made this with some very inexpensive fabric remnants found at Wal Mart.  I took out my old Creative Memories circle templates and cut 3 graduated circles.  I stitched and pulled them into little circles, tacked them together with thread and needle and added a little felt flower and a piece from a broken bracelet to finish it off. I went to Joannes for the pin and they were on sale!

My poor little cat Holly! February 8, 2009

I have a beautiful persian cat named Holly. And if you ask anyone who knows me they will tell you that I love her.  But if you look at her today, you wouldn’t think so. I feel like such a horrible pet owner!

Let me tell you the story.  Holly is strictly an indoor cat.  There are many  cats in my neighborhood that venture into my backyard.  One day Holly got out and ventured into the backyard.  Unbeknownst to me she got fleas! As soon as I figured it out I went to Wal Mart and bought all the usual stuff.  Threw her in the tub, scrubbed her and put a flea collar on her and so on.  All that did was matt her up! I couldn’t get rid of the fleas.  I ended up having to take her to our local groomer at Beauty of the Beast here in Lovely Lodi CA. The fleas are gone and so is all of her fur! But she is on Advantage, so we shouldn’t have a problem again.  My beautiful Holly’s little venture outside of her flea free home cost $100. 00

Are you ready? Here she is my poor nearly fur free cat! Please forgive me Holly! Please don’t scratch my eyes out for what you had to go through today at the groomers!

I need decorating help!!! February 5, 2009

I love the mantle in my living room. But, I am not loving the wall behind my couch.  I re arranged my living room before Thanksgiving and haven’t finished this one wall.  I have some ideas and I need your advice.

living-room-002Here’s what I’m thinking.  Take the large mirror from the kitchen and put it over the couch, take the 3 black and white pictures and put those on top of the mirror, then put the little metal scroll on top of that.  This should help fill in the large space on the wall behind the couch.

In  the kitchen I want to make a huge magnetic or corkboard with a nice frame , covering the cork or magnet with fabric that would look good in the kitchen.  This would fill in the empty spot where the mirror was. I am checking for ideas in the Etsy shops.

So please tell me what you think of my idea. Do you have a better idea? I would love to hear it if you do.  Thanks!

Trash to Treasure! February 1, 2009

I asked my friend Eddie the trash to treasure king to be on the lookout for frames for some crafts. Here is what he has come up with so far. feb1-003With a little paint, some scrapbooking paper and a tiny bit of imagination, here are the after pictures.

feb1-004This is for my neice Shelby’s upcoming birthday. Painted the frame a cream color and used scrapbooking paper and a piece of ribbon for the insert. (letters cut with the Cricut)

feb1-005Love these! I am loving the black red and white! I will keep one for myself and give one away.

feb1-006Kept these too! Just a little selfish. But it was trash to treasure anyway. So that’s ok isn’t it?  I put the yard stake in the planter on my front porch and put the faith hope love on the mantle with the Valentines day decorations.

It was a good day to create!
