I don’t have a huge selection of “chick flick” favorites, but Hope Floats was one of them. I loved the soundtrack! I have it somewhere, but had forgotten about it until I heard a song from the soundtrack on the radio tonight, To Make You Feel My Love, written by Bob Dylan and performed by Garth Brooks. This was my favorite song on the soundtrack, it makes me cry!
I am a huge sap for sentimental gush. I have been lucky enough to have a mother who appreciates my sappy poems, and a boyrfriend who writes me poems and gushy love stuff and appreciates my sappy love stuff! And my children somewhat appreciate my sappiness now, and I am sure they will appreciate it so much more when they are older and reflect back on it.
But the point I am getting at is that the words in this song just make me cry because it just says how much one would do for someone they love. So, I dedicate this song to my Mom and Dad, my Val and Zach.
Here it goes:
When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my loveWhen evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
I know you haven’t made your mind up yet
And I would never do you wrong
I’ve known it from the moment that we met
There’s no doubt in my mind where you belong
I’d go hungry, I’d go black and blue
I’d go crawling down the avenue
There ain’t nothing that I wouldn’t do
To make you feel my love
The storms are raging on a rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain’t seen nothin’ like me yet
There ain’t nothin’ that I wouldn’t do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
Make you happy make your dreams come true
To make you feel my love
