Lemondrops Good Stuff

Sharing good stuff

3 Good Things to share!!! October 29, 2008

First and best thing: My dad gets to come home from the hospital tomorrow.  Hurray!  He has a long road to recovery, but at least he can be comfortable in his own home. And my mom can sleep in bed again. She has been sleeping on the couch the entire time he has been in the hospital.

2nd good thing. I have a camera again! And it takes great pictures! Like these nice ones of my kids.

And lastly, I excercised 2 days in a row!!!! Since I have been a little off lately, that is pretty good for me. I am trying the Lotte Burk Muscle eats Fat DVD. It comes highly recommended from skinny little Kelly Rippa, so I had to try it! I must say it is very good, my leg muscles were shaking.  Lotte says you will see results after 20 days.  She wouldn’t lie to me would she? :) I will get back to you on that. (I got this DVD online at Target and it was really inexpensive).

Life is messy, I’m dealing with it! October 26, 2008

2007 GMC Yukon pictures

I have really wrestled with writing this post. I only wanted to use this space to share “good stuff” and I haven’t been making any good stuff lately.

I was on such a roll with my craft making.  But my life has become so complicated that the wind has been taken out of my crafting.

Let me explain, on Sept 3rd I was involved in an auto accident, (not my fault) that damaged my drivers door and front fender.  I had not even been able to have that repaired, when on Oct 13 just a couple blocks from my home a woman ran a red light when I was nearly through the intersection.  We had a scary accident but amazingly neither she nor I were injured.  My car didn’t look that bad at first look, the front bumper and all that went with it was obviously damaged.  Once the grill was removed they found my frame had shifted and my car was determined totalled.  Although, I really didn’t want my tiny Volvo S40 back after my recent misfortunes with it, I was pretty shocked to hear that it was totalled.  So I have been dealing with that for a couple of weeks. I am a little nervous driving now and got a 2003 GMC Yukon with only 36k miles!  I took the hit on the gas mileage to feel safer and because I don’t have to commute very far to work.  So in the end this is working out ok.

Then on this last monday 10/20 my father was admitted into the hospital for emergency surgery on his foot.  At this time he is still in the hospital but may be going home monday with a vaccuum type machine on his foot that will be there for 2 months!!!! My dad is a very energetic 67 year old. He was golfing 3 times a week, kept a meticulous yard and garage and was always on the go.  So the wind has been taken out of his sails.  We are reminding him to count his blessings and to keep a positive outlook. But I know this is very difficult for him. And of course for my mother as well, his wife of 47 years.  It is hard to see him suffer and to see the stress on her face.

I am hoping that with the car issue pretty much at a close, and once my father is home and settling into his routine and situation, that I can catch up on my chores :)  and get back to some creating!  I have tons of ideas and even have a group of people that will be waiting for my Christmas crafts. So I do pray for some peace soon!

Look for some “good stuff” in the near future.

I think this may be my last fall project post ??? October 10, 2008

Sick of my fall stuff yet?? I think my kids are :)   These are the two glass jars I found last week for $1.00 each!!!

I don’t absolutely love them. But they can be changed.  I had most of the supplies from other projects.  My son and mom went to the lake and picked up a bunch of acorns for me. Aren’t they sweet?  And I picked up a few of the tiny white pumpkins for .59 each at Safeway.  Since I am a frugal crafter I hated to pay that for such tiny pumpkins. But I only bought 3 of them.  What a cheapskate I am!

This is where having an etsy shop would come in handy for me. (Someday)  Because, I truly have run out of room for any more Halloween or Fall decorations in my little house. They will make nice gifts though!

Do you remember Hope Floats? October 8, 2008

I don’t have a huge selection of “chick flick” favorites, but Hope Floats was one of them.  I loved the soundtrack! I have it somewhere, but had forgotten about it until I heard a song from the soundtrack on the radio tonight, To Make You Feel My Love, written by Bob Dylan and performed by Garth Brooks.  This was my favorite song on the soundtrack, it makes me cry!

I am a huge sap for sentimental gush. I have been lucky enough to have a mother who appreciates my sappy poems, and a boyrfriend who writes me poems and gushy love stuff and appreciates my sappy love stuff! And my children somewhat appreciate my sappiness now, and I am sure they will appreciate it so much more when they are older and reflect back on it.

But the point I am getting at is that the words in this song just make me cry because it just says how much one would do for someone they love.  So, I dedicate this song to my Mom and Dad, my Val and Zach.

Here it goes:

When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my loveWhen evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
I know you haven’t made your mind up yet
And I would never do you wrong
I’ve known it from the moment that we met
There’s no doubt in my mind where you belong
I’d go hungry, I’d go black and blue
I’d go crawling down the avenue
There ain’t nothing that I wouldn’t do
To make you feel my love

The storms are raging on a rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain’t seen nothin’ like me yet

There ain’t nothin’ that I wouldn’t do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
Make you happy make your dreams come true
To make you feel my love

One unfinished project done, one broken camera October 7, 2008

Life is so funny haha!  I am not complaing, because I only want to share good things, but I must tell you.  I just got my computer back last week.  Was so excited, got to blogging!

Well, Saturday my son had a football game.  His father was going to be on the chain gang on the field. And I thought, GREAT! he will be right there, so he can take some pictures!!! Well it was raining outside and just like a slow mo in a movie, I reached out to hand him the camera, and it slipped right out of my hand and onto the metal bleachers.  He grabbed it and made his way to the field.  But as soon as he turned it on, he looked up at me and gave me a big thumbs down!!! The camera is broken! No display!!! Guess I know what I will be asking Santa for this Christmas :)

So if you know from the past, I had previoiusly borrowed my 19 year old daughters laptop to make a few posts.  Now I am bugging her again to take pictures and email to me!!  I think she may want to move out soon!

And on to finished fall project.  When I asked my daughter to take the photo, she said “Mom, there is no room left to put anymore Halloween stuff, have you seen our living room?”  I said, don’t worry I will make room. And I did!

These are the urns I found for $4.99 each last week.  I spray painted black.  I had wanted white pumpkins, but settled on regular pumpkins.  I painted polka dots on them to match the urns and tied ribbons on the stems.  I put these on my mantle and took the floral arrangements down, and put them on the hearth.  I told my daugther I would find room!!!! I may change the ribbon on them. Not loving the ribbon.

My computer is fixed can you tell?? October 3, 2008

Can you tell that I am excited about my computer being fixed as I am catching up on my blogging?? I hope you don’t get sick of me yet, I should calm down in a few days.

I am keeping true to my blog name by sharing good stuff on these last couple of posts.

I went junkin’ to the Assistane League of Stockton Thrift Store at 1323 E Harding Wy in Stockton.
I guess it has been around for quite a while, but I only heard about it today.  The owner of Crafters Village suggested it for locating glass jars. See I told you she was nice! And guess what, I found these 2 lovely jars for $1.00 each! SCORE!!! I know I will figure out something to do with them for Halloween. Any suggestions??

This little shop was small, but nicely organized and clean.  It will also be on my list of must visit every now and then!

A good find for more fall madness! October 3, 2008

I ventured into a charming little shop in Stockton yesterday and found these urns for $4.99 each!!! And I have great plans for them that involve paint, ribbons and pumpkins! I hope to get the project done over the weekend, so be sure to check in again on Monday!!

This darling little shop is called Creative Crafters Vintage Nook.  Crafters and vendors sell their crafts and antiques.  There was a lot to look at, Jewelry, paper crafts, lots of Halloween decorations, antique glassware and more.  The owner was very nice!  If you are in the vicinity of Pacific ave and Harding in Stockton, you should check it out.  The address is 238 W Harding. Tues-Fri 10-5 Sat 10-4

This will definetily be a shop I check out every now and then!

Woohoo my computer is fixed and thanks Martha Stewart! October 2, 2008

I was just going to say YAY!! my computer is finally fixed once and for all I hope!!! It is all cleaned up and really fast and windows vista is gone!!!

But I had to quickly share these very cool labels for your Halloween candy.  I found them on marthastewart.com.  Sorry I didn’t fill them with candy yet. That may be dangerous with a 10 yr old and 19 yr old in the house, and then well with the mom who has a sweet tooth also! I made these to use at our neighborhood Halloween party. But I may make a 2nd set for work.  I found these particular canning jars at Wal-Mart.  They were $4.67 for a set of 4.  I would like to find another set a little more interesting. So if you have seen anything that may work and of course is inexpensive, please send me an email.
