Halloween Crafts September 23, 2008

My mom and a couple of her friends are having a garage sale this Friday. (I am going to post the details on craigslist)  I am going to try my luck at selling some of my Halloween crafts there. Here is a sample of my stuff!  I have made several of the takeout boxes and boo blocks and the folded candy cards and tins.  I really liked the way the fall banner came out, so I am going to put together a few more of those. And make some tiles that I had shown in a previous post.

The Fall Swap package arrived! September 23, 2008

The Fabulous Fall Swap!  My swap package arrived last friday.  Christine from Indiana was my swap partner.  She sent me these cool bags, and some very cool Halloween embellishments, another handmade Halloween bag and she even carved 2 artificial pumpkins!  Thanks Christine!

Giant Cupcake Cake made with 8″ round cakes Brilliant!!!! September 19, 2008

It was my co workers birthday! And I didn’t bake her anything!!!! So I went to the Smart Foods near my job and found this giant cupcake cake!!! I spoke to the cake decorator and asked for instructions.  She told me that they used 2 – 8″ round cakes. Frost the sides and do the fork like technique to look like a cupcake liner, and then use a large tip for the frosting on top, and just make the frosting high in the middle!  No special pans!  I am going to have to try this!!!! Can it be as easy at it looks?? I will have to let you know!!!

6 Random things about Me September 18, 2008

 

 

Remember I am still a baby blogger.  I don’t know how to do alot of things, like highlight a word so you can link to that site or choose a random number for a drawing. 

I saw the 6 random things idea at Lipstick and Laundry blog at wordpress.

So here are 6 random things about me:

1.  I am a last minute person.  I do birthday parties, craft faires, projects under pressure. And guess what,, everything usually gets done.  I may get a little flustered but I can usally pull it off.

2.  I love scrapbook paper!!! There are just so many things you can do with it!!!!! I must collect more!!!

3.  I love Christmas and Halloween.  My house stays decorated from September until January 1st.

4.  We break out in song in my office randomly.  It is quite hilarious. I don’t know how it started. But someone will walk in and start a song, and a couple more people will chime in.  Could be anything from Bingo to the Hokey Pokey to A/C D/C Back in Black  in opera.  Very funny!!!!

5.  I like to be barefoot in the house.  And I don’t like my feet to be hot when I go to bed. Kick my feet out of the covers. 

6.  I have a childlike sense of wonder when it comes to new ideas.  I love to see other peoples craft ideas and recipe ideas.

Just a Mom trying to keep it all together September 17, 2008

Been really busy with life. Kids sports, boyfriends band gigs, work and so on. I get tired just reading that sentence!!! And then throw in some added stress of a little auto accident and a broken computer and so on and YIKES!! I am on overload!!!

Trying to make some time for crafts or a pedicure is getting really tough! hehe! Then I got sick, yet again this year! I have been pretty useless the last couple of days.  I have had some odd stuff happen this year with my health.  Taking meds for thyroid. Feeling tired, catching every cold and cough that  comes around!

But I am feeling optimistic today. My thyroid is under control so I get to reduce the medication dosage. Which I think will get me some of my energy back.  I am also going to start taking a vitamin EVERY DAY! No, not just now and then when I remember, but everyday!!! And may I suggest that all you other moms do the same!  We need to take them to keep up with our kids, our loved ones and our lives in general!!!

So that being said, I hope to get some time over the weekend to make a load of Halloween crafts for a little sale we are having next friday. Wish me luck! Hope to post new pictures soon!!!! And I also hope to get some reading time in, as I just ordered Twilight and New Moon from Half. com. Oh yea, and I could really use a mani and a pedi! But I just can’t have everything!!!! Or can I?????

I LOVE HALLOWEEN!!!!! September 12, 2008

I had the a/c going because it was still warm in the house. But, I got the Halloween boxes down, and got my living room decorated! I didn’t get to the outside yet.  But that will come soon!!!

I need to kick it up a notch because I am going to have a neighborhhod Halloween party in my garage and driveway.  We used to do it in our old nieghborhood and it was alot of fun.  I already spoke to a couple of my neighbors and they are all for it. So the party’s on!!!!

I can’t wait!!!!

Kraft Foods FREE Food & Family Magazine September 11, 2008

A few years ago a friend told me about this free quarterly magazine from Kraft foods.  So I have a growing collection of these cool magazines. Yesterday I got my fall issue and there are some great recipes and kids lunch ideas in this issue!

Here are a few of the recipes that caught my attention: Bruschetta Chicken Bake, Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes, Capellini Caprese and for dessert Triple Layer Peanut Butter Brownies! My sweetie loves chocolate and peanut butter, so I will have to make him a batch of these!!!

All of the recipes are simple and don’t have a million ingredients! And the photos are beautiful!!

I also find that Kraft Foods and Pillsbury have wonderful recipes for Halloween! And I love Halloween!! I could prepare Halloween party fare for a week and still not use all the recipes I have collected!

Halloween Madness!!! September 9, 2008

I have been dying to post some of my Halloween stuff. Still having technical difficulties. So I am borrowing my daughters laptop so it will be short and sweet as you know you can’t keep a 19 yr old girl from her laptop!!

But here is what I have been making in my spare time (haha!)

Supplies: scrapbook paper, embellishments, hot glue gun, recycled cans and glass containers, hinged tins, chocolate, ribbon, wood blocks, black paint, glitter, wood letters and modge podge  and voila!!!!
